It has everything from streaming apps to news, business, productivity and much more so there’s pretty much something for everyone.

My Experience With The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max

I bought my Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max in December 2023 shortly before I joined Amazon Prime.

I was shopping in Big W one afternoon buying Christmas presents for my family when I stopped to look at the technology in the entertainment section.

As I browsed the available products I came across the Fire TV Stick 4K Max along with its cheaper Fire TV Stick 4K version.

At this point I had no idea what they were or what these devices do so I walked over into the next aisle and pulled out my phone.

I began researching the two devices and quickly found out exactly how they work. I’ve always wanted a smart TV so I was intrigued by the devices and thought it would be the next best thing.

So I compared the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and in the end I chose the Fire TV Stick 4K Max because it had the larger storage.

After that I proceeded to purchase it, finish up my Christmas shopping and went home to try out my new Fire TV Stick.

Setup & A Roadblock

When I arrived home it was time to test out my new streaming stick and get my Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max up and running.

In the box I found the Fire TV Stick, a HDMI adaptor, the AC adaptor, the voice remote control, 2x AAA batteries and a quick start guide.

I connected the Fire TV Stick to my TV, powered it up and inserted the batteries into the remote control.

The device booted up straight away and I was presented with a welcome screen.

But this is where I hit a roadblock as I tried to press the button on the control to proceed with setup.

I found nothing was happening and I thought something was wrong with the remote control.

So I checked the batteries to make sure I inserted them correctly and then I tried again to no avail.

I was confused and so I looked the problem up on my laptop and found out that since it didn’t pair automatically I had to press and hold the home button for 10 seconds.

It worked and I was able to proceed with the setup meaning the remote control was now paired with my Fire TV Stick.

The setup process was quick and straightforward. It took me around 5 minutes to get through it.

All I had to do was connect to my Wi-Fi, set my language preferences, login to and link my Amazon account and it was done.

I then found myself on the home screen for the first time and ready to explore my new device.

My First Steps

The first thing I did once arriving on the home screen was stare in awe of how amazing my TV looked and all the things I could now do on it.

I remember looking through all the apps on the home screen to see what was available by default on the Fire TV Stick.

Apps like Netflix and Prime Video caught my eye quickly and I was even happier that I could finally stream music with Spotify and watch YouTube on my TV without the need for my PlayStation 4 or a computer.

From there I proceeded to open each app on the home screen one at a time to see what they do and I also checked out the menus and settings as well.

Once I was done I opened the Amazon App Store and I was surprised to find so many apps available across a wide range of categories.

I quickly discovered some apps that I had no idea would be available for the Fire TV Stick including Tubi, Rumble and Twitch.

I downloaded them straight away and it was then I discovered there were games you could download to.

I thought that was cool and I just had to try it right away so I downloaded a few games like Hangman, Hill Climb Racing and Red Ball 4.

I tried them out and they were surprisingly easy to play with the remote control but I did find them full of ads which really annoyed me.

Other than the constant ads between levels I enjoyed each of the games I tried which left me feeling relaxed and satisfied.

After a bit of fun gaming I decided to try out Alexa and boy was I in for a treat.

Using Alexa For The First Time

I went back to the home screen and I pressed the blue microphone button and spoke.

I started with a simple greeting and was intrigued when Alexa greeted me back.

I found that whenever I said “thank you” she would kindly reply with “You’re welcome” or “No worries”.

I was surprised but I loved the fact that Alexa was so kind and thoughtful given the fact that she’s just a machine.

I proceeded to ask questions, open apps, search for shows and check the weather forecast.

I couldn’t believe I had a talking TV that I could talk back to and I was over the moon about this.

During this time I also familiarized myself with the control and checked to see what each button does.

Once I was done with Alexa I had some dinner, relaxed with a bit of YouTube and called it a day.

The Real Magic

The real magic happened a few days later when I discovered Alexa can sing.

I was looking online at things you can do with Alexa when I stumbled across singing.

“Alexa can sing?” I thought I’ve got to try this!

So I picked up the voice remote and asked Alexa to sing a song.

I was shocked when she actually started singing and I jumped for joy that I had a TV that can sing as well as talk.

I went on to see what songs Alexa could sing and I discovered she can sing some of her own songs as well as nursery rhymes and popular songs like Waltzing Matilda.

I was blown away when I found out Alexa can sing me happy birthday and a bunch of Christmas carols.

I spent around 2 hours asking Alexa to sing different songs so I could see what songs she knows and hear how she sings them.

This quickly became a favourite thing for me to do with Alexa and it was then that I realized the capabilities are really endless with Alexa.

I truly had the freedom to do whatever I wanted with my TV without having to worry about the cost of a smart TV.

The Weeks That Followed

Over the weeks that followed I spent a lot of time using my Fire TV Stick 4K Max each day.

I tried out new apps, played around with Alexa and joined some new streaming services.

I pretty much explored my Fire TV Stick from top to bottom so I could see everything it could do.

From here on out my Fire TV Stick became a part of my daily routine.

I still use it every day to watch my favourite shows each night and keep myself entertained whenever I need some down time.

The apps I use the most include Netflix, Stan and Binge with the later being the one I use every day without fail.

I love watching the live channels on Binge every night and I often use free-to-air TV apps to catch up on any shows I miss on free-to-air TV.

I also use Prime Video and Shudder from time to time to watch horror moves I can’t find on Netflix or other streaming services.

I’m a big fan of horror movies so it felt natural for me to join Shudder not long after I got my Fire TV Stick as well as search the other streaming services for as many scary movies as I could find.

Aside from my daily use of Binge, regular use of free-to-air TV apps and occasional use of other streaming services I do occasionally still use apps like YouTube, Spotify, Silk Browser and the Amazon App Store.

My next few months with my Fire TV Stick 4K Max continued pretty much the same way and I had no major issues except for a few annoying bugs and glitchy occurrences.

A Few Bugs & Glitches

After about a year or so using my Fire TV Stick I started encountering some strange issues.

I noticed a few random freezes and apps crashing as well as sometimes experiencing an app stuck on a black screen.

I had to force stop the affected app and then restart it to fix the problem.

Not long after that I started seeing delays when pressing a button or opening an app and there were a few times when the sound suddenly stopped working.

I couldn’t figure out what was causing these issues but a restart of the Fire TV Stick was usually enough to fix them and get things back to normal.

It got annoying having to restart the device every time some kind of bug messed things up or a glitch occurred.

But luckily after some updates were released by Amazon these problems stopped happening and I haven’t encountered any more bugs or glitches since then.

So I’m hoping they have all finally been fixed or patched out.

Aside from the mentioned bugs and glitches it’s been smooth sailing with my Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It’s a device I enjoy using and an experience worth living.

Why I Still Use The Amazon Fire Tv Stick 4K Max

Fast forward to the present I still use the Amazon Fire TV 4K Max today to keep myself entertained.

I still enjoy the live channels on Binge every night and I sometimes play around with Alexa for fun.

I start the day and end the night with my Fire TV Stick every day like clockwork.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max has changed my life for the better and I’m glad I purchased the device.

Ultimately it was worth every cent for me and it’s a product I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for reliable but affordable streaming hub.
